Over the years, we have helped many teams through our meaning-centered approach to innovation. We focus on the process of "Innovating with
Meaning®." One of our unique services is called the Designing Innovation Group or DIG for short. Together,
your team and our team work through a series of disciplined DIG steps to "unearth" innovative, yet "grounded," solutions.
The DIG process can be applied to many types of innovation challenges, including:
- Product and Service Innovation: To identify and design solutions to strengthen the differentiation of an
existing product or service, or to identify an untapped opportunity for a new product or service.
- Process Innovation: To identify innovative solutions to design or redesign work or customer processes. We help you think through
how work flows across your organization, as well as how your interactions with external stakeholders (e.g., customers, partners, and
new alliances) can be greatly enhanced.
- Organizational/Cultural Innovation:: To identify new ideas to design a more innovative culture within your team or
organization and create new capacity for sustained innovation.
- Business Model Innovation: To identify opportunities to collaborate with new partners across your ecosystem or redesign how
you approach your marketplace to find new sources of added value.
How does it work?
Our DIG approach is a powerful, collaborative, co-creative, and fluid process. Together, we progress systematically through three key
exploratory and decision-making phases:
PHASE I = Discovery
We start with a deeper understanding of the strategic elements of the situation, "change the conversation" to expand the possibilities, and
then redefine the challenge in unique ways. This Phase helps us understand the context of the challenge, as well as tap into opportunities that
have not yet been articulated.
PHASE II = Imagination
During the second Phase of our process, Imagination, we bring the insights from the Discovery Phase to life. With the use of our proprietary
creative thinking tools and design principles, the teams generate and then develop innovation concepts across a multitude of dimensions. The process
is designed to push the boundaries of existing solutions.
PHASE III = Go! Action Planning
During the last Phase of our DIG Process, "Go! Action Planning," the teams work together to choose those ideas and innovation concepts
that have the highest value potential.
Who?
The DIG is championed by our consulting team who works closely with three to five participants from your organization. Depending on the
needs of the project, and at various points in the DIG process, we also invite others to help us capture deeper insights.
The extended team includes participants with diverse backgrounds, who add valuable and unique perspectives.
Where?
The location of the DIG, and specifically, the location of each DIG phase, depends on the scope and complexity of the challenge facing your group.
We conduct some DIGs at our Innovation Center, located in the design capital and center of creativity--Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA (south of Denver, Colorado).
Other groundwork can be conducted on your site or elsewhere in the "Innovation Field."

management is an asset to help you "DIG" deeper to achieve the results you need!
